Ok I'm now in Dalat. The trip from Saigon started at 8am and finsihed at 3:30pm. The first part was really boring through saigon suburbs. Traffic, noise and roadside houses that should have been hidden behind some kind of barriers. I am not sure why but the housing in the outer suburbs either looks unfinished or just very run down. In saigon they seem to have areas for things. This morning it was heavy machinery hymacs and diggers, all kinds of large earth noving equipment. Nothing is wasted not even worn out tyres. Once past the city limits it was still pretty ordinary until we started to go up into the hills/mountains. The it got very different. beautiful valley and hill vistas carpeted in orchards of a myriad of different fruits and whatnot. All along the roadside the farmers had spread large tarpaulins upon which they had laid out seeds to dry. Mostly coffee I think but alos some corn and maybe soybean. The further we got into the highlands the seed drying dried up and there were just the orchards and lots of vegie fields. They seem to be able to grow an amazing array of green leafy things that look a bit like cabbage, lettuce and the ubiquitous bok choi and choi sum.
I am so glad I left Saigon.I had an "adventure" there I do not care to repeat. Someday I will pen a description but not at this time. It came about because I wanted an adventure and decided that if someone invited me to their home I would go no matter what. from now on the matter will what!!!!
Gotta go now I'm off with a guy who runs my hotel to a resteraunt/bar where he is singing Karioke this should be interesting. More photos coming!
