Here I am in Hanoi. I arrived this morning after a fog delayed flight from Danang. Hoian was wet but most enjoyable. I met some very nice and interesting people. A Swiss South African who works as a hospitality consultant who is the bees knees on single malts and cigars. An aussie couple on their first trip and the "captain" of the boat I went fishing on. He was such a nice fellow. I had 4 hours fishing in the river mouth with shadows of Cham island in the distance and a taste of surf right at the seas edge. We tied up to a mooring and dangled lines. He was very hopeful of catching fish and taking me to his home to cook and eat them. As it turned out he caught a little Bream, not enough for our feast unfortunately. He kept it anyway. As Ms Vy the cooking teacher says they eat the little ones because they can eat the bones for calcium.
Hanoi is just as I remember it, maybe a little colder and wetter. I had lunch at my favorite restaurant. Ms Le was recommending it to me this morning. I did not know until I got there that it was the one I had dreamed of going back to for so long. The "New Day". what a day out. I went for a walk around the lake to renew my feelings for this place. Its great. Have to go now Ms Le is coming.
